As I wrote in a previous post, I’ve been beginning to get the fuss about Holgas…and so I took one to Japan. By the this time, the inside of the camera had been taped and so I fortunately didn’t have any issues with the film being damaged…yay.
These are all taken with one of those glass-lensed jobbies, which I realise some of you are less fond of…I like it!
It’s probably fair to say that at times I was channeling Michael Kenna - badly - as you might be able to see. If you’ve not checked out his rather excellent Holga book then I can thoroughly recommend it. As an aside, I didn’t buy a single photobook in Japan. I did buy a hell of a lot of J-Pop though.
Oh yeah…I also took some colour photos with the Holga too…sacrilege (sorry Michael).
…and thanks Nils for the top tip regarding the rubber band technique, it worked a treat.
As always, all photos were developed and scanned by C & E at the ever amazing Canadian Film Lab. Some are HP5, some Portra 160. I’d like to think you can figure out which is which.
